Kalyan Banerjee
Kalyan Banerjee is chair of United Phosphorus, Bangladesh, and a director of United Phosphorus Ltd., one of the largest manufacturers of agrochemicals in India, and Uniphos Agro Industries Ltd. Born in Kolkata in 1942, he earned a degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in 1964. He is a resident of Vapi, Gujarat, where he has contributed significantly to its development as one of the largest industrial estates in India, helping to provide infrastructure for health care and education
Banerjee has been a member of the Rotary Club of Vapi since 1972. He served as club president in 1975-76 and district governor in 1980-81. He began his international service to Rotary in 1995, with his appointment to the RI Board of Directors. He has gone on to serve as general coordinator of the Poverty and Hunger Alleviation Task Force (1997-98), trustee of The Rotary Foundation (2001-05), and chair of the Southeast Asia PolioPlus Committee (2009-10). He has served on numerous other committees, including the International PolioPlus Committee (2008-09), Reach Out to Africa Ad-Hoc Executive Committee (2009-10), Leadership Development and Training Committee (2009-10), Permanent Fund Committee for India (2008-09), and the Child Mortality Emphasis Coordinating Team (2008-09).
Banerjee is also active in many other organizations, including the American Chemical Society, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Senate of the Vishva-Bharati University. He has served twice as president of Vapi Industries Association and is a past chair of the Gujarat Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry. In addition, he is a trustee for the Jai Research Foundation.
Kalyan Banerjee is married to Binota, a social worker, and they have two children and four grandchildren.

District Governor DG Vijay Jalan
A man who believed in the true word of being an entrepreneur, Vijay ventured out on his own into the exports’ business. Subsequently he started Intercargo, which he nurtured with a vibrant and dynamic zeal to make it one of Mumbai’s respected logistic management outfits, having interest in freight forwarding, shipping, transport and warehousing.
A leader by example, his drive was visible early on when he was elected General Secretary of his college student union and ultimately represented his college in the University’s Student Council. Being the youngest President of the Bombay Management Association and rising to be the Western Regional Chairman of the All India Management Association are a testimony of his vision and passion to lead.
Vijay’s active interest at the district began long before be took on the mantle of President of RC Bombay North in 1994-95, wherein his term was one of distinction with the Club receiving the Distinguished Club and Outstanding Service awards. Vijay served District 3140 in various capacities across the spectrum of Rotary service. He is still remembered for convening the Multidistrict Rotaract conference in 1989. He has been an integral part in several ICF’s year after year, as faculty, convener and forum leader. Governor’s special aide, District Secretary (2002-03) Avenue Chair and twice over Assistant Governor are some of the assignments with which he has had the opportunity to serve District 3140. A major donor to The Rotary Foundation, Vijay has received the Exemplary Services Award (‘99-‘00), Rotary Foundation Services Award (’99-’00, ’02-’03) and Distinguished Service Award (2000). He is also a member of the Paul Harris Society and his commitment extends to his family members too, who are Paul Harris Fellows.
A past president of the Indo Belgium Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Vijay’s involvement at the community level include being founder trustee of a school for Adivasis in a rural area and a major donor to an Old age home in Nerul. Spouse Kiran, an MA in Philosophy, is past President and Trustee of Archana Trust Suburban, an effective women’s NGO. Their daughter Vrinda, an MBA from York University, is working with a pharmaceutical multinational while son Siddharth, an I.T. Engineer, work with a multinational advertising agency.

Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar Göteborg, Sweden (2007-11)
Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar, a food broker for international products, is the former owner of Gust. F. Bratt AB. A Rotarian since 1974, he has held numerous positions at the club, district, and international levels. His district service has included chairing the Youth Exchange and member elections committees and the Sweden Rotary Youth Exchange Foundation. He was treasurer of the Rotary International District 2360 Student Home Foundation and served as 1987-88 district governor.
His international service to Rotary began in 1991 with his appointment to the Youth Service Committee, which he chaired in 1993-94. Carl-Wilhelm has also served as general and regional coordinator of the Youth Service Task Force. He has been an International Institute moderator several times and represented the RI president at many district conferences, in locations stretching from Africa to Europe, and India to the United States. During his 1996-98 term as RI director, he was on several Board committees, serving as a member of the executive committee, chair of the finance committee, and vice chair of the audit committee. In 2005-06, he served as RI president.
Carl-Wilhelm has been a member of the RI Audit and Operations Review Committee and the 2001 San Antonio Convention Committee. He was also chair of the Permanent Fund Committee for Europe and RIBI, and general coordinator of the Literacy and Education Task Force. He served as chair of the 2003 Presidential Celebration in Stockholm and moderator of the 1999-2000 Regional Magazine Editors Seminar. He is a PolioPlus national advocacy adviser, International PolioPlus Committee member, and Polio Eradication Advocacy Task Force chair.
Carl-Wilhelm and his wife, Monica, have two sons, two grandsons, and one granddaughter.
